As a landscape painter, my practice always begins in the wilderness – a challenging endeavour that brings knowledge and integrity to my work. Immersed in the elements, my palette struggles to keep pace with wild weather, subtle colour shifts, incredible atmospheres and overwhelming beauty. Solitary painting under vast skies can be divinely intimidating; a frantic activity producing many vigorous studies. Back in the studio these inform large scale, pared back paintings where detail is removed to reveal only a whispered remnant of my landscape experience. Linda Gibbs
