Biography

Hendrik (Cornelis Gijsbertus) Kolenberg  born Rotterdam 31 July 1946 to Gijsbertus Anthonius Kolenberg & Wilhelmina Maria Kolenberg nee Schellaars; arrived in Australia October 1952

Attended Black Forest Primary, Forbes Primary, Plympton High School, Adelaide.
Private lessons in oil painting from Carl Lock, Adelaide, 1962-63, and Kas Vandelaar, a relative, in Adelaide 1964.
Studied at SA School of Art & Western Teachers’ College, Adelaide, 1965-67 (Diploma in Teaching Art 1968); taught art in secondary schools in S A 1968-71 (Angle Park Boys Technical High School; Kimba High School), Education Officer at Art Gallery of SA, Adelaide, 1972

Lived in Rotterdam, then London & taught art p/t at Tooting Bec Comprehensive 1973.
Netherlands Government Scholarship 1974 to study 19th century Dutch art in Print Rooms of Dutch museums & at the RKD, The Hague
Returned to Australia, taught art at Glenunga High School, School, Adelaide 1975
