What's different about this gallery?
One minute preview just released by Melbourne creative studio by The Thin Black Line. Our story is told in this visually stunning short film featuring the beautiful Yarra Bend Park.
About the Gallery
Our mission is to present an outstanding experience of painting and printmaking by significant contemporary Australian artists. The gallery is located in a heritage listed Victorian mansion in Kew, Victoria. Our artists have decades of peer reviewed practice, are collected by state and regional galleries and have been active in art education and curation for many years.
About the building
The house is built in the grand style found in some of Melbourne’s oldest suburbs. It was built around 1900. The double front rooms which make up the gallery have hosted many events. Max Walker and Dean Jones sat for Alexandra for their portraits there, when she was working on the Melbourne Cricket Club’s ‘Team of the Century’ commission. The rooms now occupied by the gallery would have hosted many a political gathering as it was the home of Wilfred Kent-Hughes MP last century.
